“Are you ready?” Klaus asked finally.
“No,” Sunny answered.
“Me neither,” Violet said, “but if we wait until we’re ready we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives, Let’s go.”—Lemony Snicket, The Ersatz Elevator (via shellybort)
“All the world had frowned on her,—for seven long years had it frowned upon this lonely woman,—and still she bore it all, nor ever once turned away her firm, sad eyes.”—The Scarlett Letter (via kyliekollmeier)
There were a bunch of scenes in Mockingjay that I really liked. One being when Katniss discovers her prep team alive. Geez, I mention the prep team constantly, but I was happy that Octavia, Venia, and Flavius were alive. … I like the entire scene when Katniss finds them, and the suspense that was built up beforehand.
I like the cast … I don’t love it, but it has grown on me. I think that Stanley Tucci as Caesar is spot on, along with Woody Harrelson as Haymitch. Jennifer Lawrence has really grown on me, but I think Dakota Fanning could have done Katniss justice.
Looking to the future Coin should be played by Meryl Streep, and I’d go with Ian Somerhalder as Finnick.
Call me crazy, I am choosing Katniss’s prep team. I was a huge fan of Cinna, Flavius, Venia, and Octavia. … and I feel like they are some of the most underrated characters in the series.
I loved how devoted and loyal Cinna was, and I was so upset when he was beaten and later killed. Likewise, one of my favorite scenes is when Katniss discovers her prep team alive. Lastly, “I’m still betting on you” is one of the best and most endearing lines in Catching Fire.
hmm … do Peeta & Gale count? … well now it just seems funny to consider them a pair, nonetheless … I feel like there was not enough tension between the two of them. Maybe there should have been more drama? … or distaste for each other? … or fighting for Katniss’s attention?
“The stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women, it’s all of our burden, all of us.”—Viola Davis, SAG Awards acceptance speech for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for The Help
Hunger Games Day 12: A character you wish hadn't died
Just one? … impossible.
I wish Rue did not die, but her death was such a key role in the story, too. The fact that there was so much death and sadness added so much depth to the series. … nonetheless I was sad to see Cinna and Seneca not make it.
… and from the 75th Games, I was so sad that Mags died, but found it so moving that she volunteered for the games, and then sacrificed herself. … and I was sad that Cecelia had to go to the games, and then die. … and then pretty much everyone on Katniss’s team in Mockingjay.
"What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.”
“They hadn’t counted on the highly controlled jabberjay having the brains to adapt to the wild, to pass on its genetic code, to thrive in a new form. They hadn’t anticipated its will to live.”
“Finnick stands among them, looking dazed but gorgeous.”
Hunger Games Day 8: The character you are most like
I really don’t see myself as any of the characters … aside from Katniss, my favorite female character is Johanna … I really liked that she was such a badass, and that she was so loyal during the 75th Games.
Hunger Games Day 4: A character you love that everyone hates
I really liked Haymitch and felt like he did not receive as much credit as he should have. He was just a sad, lonely, tortured guy, who dealt with his demons by drinking. But he was also very smart, and like Katniss, a survivor. I also liked the relationship that developed between Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta at the conclusion of Mockingjay.
